SEPTEMBER 13, 2013 – STRONGHOLD SIN – Is there a specific sin in your life that you keep committing over and over again, but you really want to stop doing this sin? Examples may be – smoking, drinking, anger, jealousy, lust, foul language, gossiping, self sex, gluttony. This sin has a very strong hold on you! This type of sin actually becomes a little god to you. I was trapped in a stronghold sin almost twenty years ago and it was the worst thing that I have ever experienced in my whole life. Why? Because I wanted out, I wanted to walk in obedience, and no matter how hard “I” tried to get out of this sin, to get away from this god, I could not. The LORD Himself had to break my chains! My whole focus was on my stronghold sin; how I could escape it. When I finally took my focus off of trying to stop my sin, and put all of my focus on The Person of Jesus Christ, then, and only then, did my chains break into a million pieces. He, Jesus Christ, reduced to nothing the foreign god that was in my life! Zephaniah 2:11 The LORD will be awesome to them, for He will reduce to nothing all the gods of the earth; people shall worship Him, each one from his place, indeed all the shores of the nations. (NKJ) I have not looked back since then! John 8:36 “Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.
