OCTOBER 27, 2013 – LESSON NUMBER ONE – Have you truly grasped how totally exciting the Word of God is? There are nuggets abounding! Here is one of those nuggets – The very first thing that we see in the holy scriptures that John the Baptist teaches and the very first thing that Jesus teaches is: Matthew 3:1-2 In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea, and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!”Matthew 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” (NKJ) When we first come to Jesus we repent of our sins and we ask Him to be our Lord and Savior but repentance is not just a one time thing. To repent means to change one’s mind; to change one’s direction. You are headed one way, one direction, and the Holy Spirit/The Word of God impresses upon your heart, “Wrong way! Turn around!” There’s nothing like walking hand in hand with Jesus, and repentance allows us to do that. Step away from the road that leads to sin and step into the path of heaven! There’s a reason its lesson number one!
